In the heart of the City

Author: Rachel Brown

The City of London Corporation has used its influential position at the heart of the world’s financial markets to raise awareness and encourage action on climate change. Recognising that the City must plan for the now inevitable effects of climate change, the organisation has developed a climate-change adaptation strategy that aims to climate-proof its infrastructure and services – for example, by dealing with flood risks and managing heat and air-pollution risks. Employee engagement is central to the corporation’s environmental aims; there is a network of volunteer energy champions and the organisation holds a number of different awareness-raising events.
